I’m excited to announce that I will be sitting down (virtually via Google Plus, On Air Hangout) with the Big Ideas in Higher Education Conference Team (Tony Doody, Courtney O’Connell, Matt Ferguson, Kevin O’Connell, & Patrick Love) for my next Live Video Interview! It has been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I’m excited to get back at it and kick it off with this amazing group of professionals.
During the interview, we will be talking about them about how they got the Big Ideas Conference off the ground, what some of their challenges were, their future plans for Big Ideas, and initial assessment of how the conference went. We will also discuss their individual interests in technology, student affairs, and higher education and get to know these educational pioneers better! I hope you can join us for our conversation!
Bios: Tony Doody has had over 20 years of practical experience and oversight in Higher Education in the areas of leadership development, marketing and social media, major events, and new student and parent orientation.
Tony has also had over 15 years of international corporate training in the areas of executive coaching, leadership development, personality assessment, diversity, presentation skills, generational marketing, social media, conflict resolution, and team cohesiveness. Past clients include Johnson and Johnson, Bristol Myers Squibb, Vistakon, Janssen, United Way, Merrill Lynch, Transworld Media and Aventis Pharmaceuticals.
Tony is certified in Crucial Conversations, PDI 360 feedback, True Colors and EMI EventMarketing. Tony also has extensive and practical expertise in graphic design, video editing and website development. Courtney O’Connell is an Assistant Director in the Student Life department at Rutgers University. Her student affairs experience is primarily in New Student Orientation, Greek Life and Student Leadership Programming. Courtney is originally from Pennsylvania, but currently resides in Middlesex, NJ. She attended graduate school at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in their Student Affairs in Higher Education master’s program. As the Vice-President in the Jersey Alliance (the New Jersey state division of ACPA), she is excited about the potential to create something new in while contributing to the profession and building the link between NJ student affairs educators. Matthew Ferguson is a resourceful, result-oriented leader with experience relating to urban planning, student affairs, teaching and theater. Matt has a strong background in project management, public speaking, event planning and the direction of theatrical productions. Consistently recognized for positive “can do” attitude, dedication and the ability to easily adapt and thrive in high-pressure situations.
